Who We Are

We gather together as one people committed to know and follow Jesus Christ.  We affirm the Bible as God’s Word and our only perfect authority, and we affirm the historic creeds of the church as worthy summaries of our faith.  Our congregation exists to worship God, encourage one another, and serve our neighbors.  We hold four values as central to who we are as a congregation:

FRIENDSHIP – We are called to be friends to anyone who has reverence for the Lord (Psalm 119:63), and so we welcome all people – regardless of who you are and where you come from – to join us as friends in Christ and to share your story with us!

FAITHFULNESS – The Bible teaches us that God continually is faithful to His people (Deuteronomy 7:9) – demonstrated perfectly in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus – and we respond to God’s faithfulness by striving to be faithful to Him through our worship, prayer, Scripture reading, generous giving, and service!

FRUITFULNESS – We want our lives to “bear fruit” – thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors (Galatians 5:22-23) that are consistent with our new identity as followers of Jesus – and we want to be known as people who serve others in love (Galatians 5:13)!

THE FUTURE – We look forward to the future of God’s promises – a restored world of peace, freedom, and healing (Luke 4:18-19) – and we invest in ministries that witness to those promises in our community, especially to children and youth!

We are affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Churcha rapidly growing multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.

The Evangelical Covenant Church is:

  • Evangelical, but not exclusive
  • Biblical, but not doctrinaire
  • Traditional, but not rigid
  • Congregational, but not independent

  • SENIOR PASTOR – Rev. Jeff Kahl
Pastor Jeff joined us as Senior Pastor in November of 2016.  He comes to us with twenty years’ experience in associate pastor roles, particularly in youth and family ministries and as a teaching pastor.  He is passionate about studying and communicating God’s Word, and he loves encouraging people of all ages to find their identity and purpose in Jesus Christ.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ashland (Ohio) University, and his master’s degree from Ashland Theological Seminary, and he was ordained in 2012 in the Evangelical Covenant Church.  When he’s not doing ministry, you’ll most often find Jeff at a local coffee shop reading a good book, exercising at Anytime Fitness, playing piano, or hanging out with family and friends.  He is blessed to share his life with his wife Cherith and their six-year-old son Cyrus.
